Research

My research activities are directed primarily through the projects and collaborative partnerships of the Citizen Lab. For over a decade, we have used a mixed methods approach that combines techniques from network measurement, information security, law, and the social sciences to research and document information controls (e.g., Internet censorship and surveillance) that impact the openness and security of digital communications and pose threats to human rights.

For more about this research, see the publications page of the Citizen Lab website.

Students interested in working with me should read the Student Supervision section of my website.
